Bridgelux Increases Efficiency in 3rd Gen Products

Bridgelux recently announced that their new 3rd generation LED offerings are increasing the output per watt, while lowering the cost per lumen, something that is rarely seen in this industry.

The new updates are affecting the LS and ES line of LEDs, and are showing up to a 20% increase in efficacy, while reducing the cost per lumen by up to 30%. With a lineup ranging from 240 to 10,000(!) lumens, in multiple color temperatures and CRI ranges, there is an LED for almost any application. Couple that with a nice range of reflectors from Ledil, and you have a range of LEDs that can now get a low of light very deep into some very deep tanks. The new generation of LEDs will start to ship from distributors like Digikey and Newark in Q3 of this year.

In my own experiments, I have managed to measure PAR levels of over 350 at 48" from the LED, using four n1203 LEDs driven at 1050mA with 50 degree lenses. I can only imagine what some of the higher power versions would be capable of when you push them to 10,000lm.
